Everyone loves to have a set of dazzling white teeth. Unfortunately, natural ageing, diet, oral hygiene habits, dental trauma or medication can dash our hopes, and we have to make do with a set of dull-looking, lack-lustre teeth instead. A multitude of tooth whitening options are now available in the market. There's probably a whitening solution that's well-suited for each individual. If, however, you haven't got the time, money or inclination to undertake cosmetic tooth bleaching (either at the dentist or using D-I-Y whitening products), here are some indirect methods to improve the appearance of your smile.
Accessorize, accessorize, accessorize!
Fashionistas live by this maxim. Think "bling" -- sparkly, gleaming jewellery attracts attention. White rhinestones, silver, white gold platinum and brightly colored gemstones add glamour and shine to your body, and direct onlookers' gaze away from your less-than-perfect smile. With the right glittery sparklers framing your face, nobody will focus on your lack-lustre teeth. A word of caution though... yellow gold complements and exaggerates any yellowish tones in your teeth. So yellow gold is a definite no-no unless you want to be remembered for your toothy "golden smile".
Lipstick and rouge!
Ladies clearly have the advantage here, as no straight man in his right mind would caught dead with fire-engine red smackers. Colorists will vouch for the optical magic that bright red plays on the human eye. Your yellowish teeth will fade into the backdrop against the loud and arresting crimson lips... which is exactly the effect you're aiming for. Some advice is needed here... choose dark lipstick colors with bluish undertones, versus coral or orangey hues. The former creates an illusion of whiter teeth, while the latter accentuates the yellow stains on your teeth. Apply the same principles in your choice of blusher colors, and you'll be amazed by the wonders this simple fashion tip yields.
Colors trump whites!
A splash of color engages the eye, and draws attention away from your dull and discolored grin. This applies especially for tops, more so than bottoms, since the former is closer to our face. Obviously, top-to-toe dressing in virginal white hues is going to put your yellowish teeth right-smack in the spotlight. Brides-to-be will probably want to smile a lot in their wedding finery, and I'm not advocating for multi-colored sun-dresses to replace the conventional and classy white gowns. For normal office, casual and party wear though, it's really easy to inject more colors into your wardrobe.
I hope you have fun experimenting with fashion accessories, makeup and colorful outfits. Put this cheater's guide into action today! Look and feel great, stained teeth notwithstanding. And remember to smile a lot. Think happy thoughts and let it show through your infectious smiles. Don't let dull and discolored teeth hold you back from having fun and making new friends.

A bit of due diligence will reap many times its returns in terms of results, effort, time, money, health and your sanity. Be careful.
